Senem Aytaç was born in Ankara in 1978. She studied Psychology at METU and pursued her master’s studies at Department of Cinema-TV at Bilgi University in 2000. She worked as a research assistant at the same department between 2001 and 2005. Aytaç continues to be a member of the editorial board and content management, the latter of which she started in 2006. She has been writing for Altyazı monthly cinema magazine since 2004. She taught film history at Boğaziçi University in the 2006-2007 term. Senem Aytaç continues to organize cinema seminars in various institutions and writes about cinema.
