Born 1961 in Istanbul, Prof. Zeynep Sayın is a linguist, art theorist, lecturer, based in Istanbul and Vienna.

She studied linguistics, art history and philosophy in İstanbul, Salzburg and Vienna. She worked in several universities in İstanbul, in Mardin Artuklu University School of Architecture and in Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna. Over the past years, she’s been teaching at Leipzig’de Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (honorary professor) and Linz Art University. She has published books named, Mithat Şen ve Bedenyazısı (Kaknüs, 1999), Noli me tangere (Kaknüs, 2000), İmgenin Pornografisi (Metis, 2003) ve Kötülük Cemaatleri (Tekhne, 2016).

ART AND SOCIAL JUSTICE

This program opens space for collective thinking of the topic of social justice in the current political climate in Turkey through art creation and art theory and questions social injustice through art creation. The workshop which will focus on topics of social injustice, gender, differences, political violence, the effect of human on societies on climate and the environment, inequalities, critical thinking in art, will offer examples from contemporary art, include seminars and discussions, as well as invite into the process of co-creation and collective thinking through the artistic creation workshop.
