In Sevil Tunaboylu's works, exercises on the juxtaposition of encountered objects are present, along with portraits that bear witness to traces left outside the frame. In her practice, Tunaboylu continuously transfers her subjects to different mediums as a research method, creating a transfer area from painting to sculpture, from sculpture to photography, and back to painting.

She graduated from the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2005. Between 2008 and 2010, she served as co-executive of the non-profit initiative Mtaär Open Art Space, of which she was a founding member. Tunaboylu, who has been teaching visual arts since 2007, lives and works in Istanbul.
