Born in 1972 in Tunceli, Necla Rüzgar obtained her Doctorate of Arts from the Painting Department of Hacettepe University, Faculty of Fine Arts, in 2004. She teaches as a Professor at the same department, and produces paintings and sculptures.

In her work, a seemingly cold-blooded, paradox atmosphere mingles violence with tenderness to achieve an expression of the impossibility of daily existence under social and political oppression. Rüzgar has exhibited her paintings, photographs and video works in cities around the world, including İstanbul, İzmir, Diyarbakır, Berlin, Zürich and Seoul. Her works were recently presented at Akademie der Künste in Berlin, and at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest. In 2014, her exhibition entitled "Fauna" was hosted by Nev Gallery.
